If your company has developed an effective and comprehensive CSR programme that is credible, results driven, addresses your core business function and reinforces your commitment to operating in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible manner, then your organisation is eligible to enter this award.
The award is for the organisation which has developed the breadth and depth of its social responsibility initiatives and will be judged on activities undertaken primarily in 2013/14 and those ongoing, although projects started before will be taken into account. The scope of relevant activities includes innovation, promotion of employee well-being, reduction of carbon footprint, improving the sustainability of processes in the workplace, community engagement, protection of the natural environment, supply chain, partnership and leadership.
The award will be presented to the organisation delivering effective activities and initiatives creating a high impact, socially responsible presence. This can include future planned activities to change processes, to benchmark successes with an emphasis on whole-life impact of products and services, and to encourage clients and third parties to incorporate CSR in their processes, services and resources.
The Judges will be looking for good governance, management and a continuing commitment to sustainability.
Best Organisation Transformation
This award is designed to encourage organisations that have recently taken a strategic approach to social responsibility or undertaken an organisational overhaul, supported by the highest levels of management in order to address core business practices, employee well-being, community engagement and sustainable environmental practices. This strategy may represent a complete transformation or reflect numerous efforts that have not been previously joined together as an overarching CSR strategy. Applicants will have one or two annual reports available and will have reached or exceeded social responsibility goals.
The Judges will be looking for outstanding emerging leadership and a commitment to addressing all aspects of the business process including supply chain and partnership activities.
Best Individual Community Project
This award is open to any community development project, including national or local Government, public, third sector organisations and businesses that have developed a community project delivered independently within the United Kingdom between 2013 and 2015.
The award will be presented to the most innovative, engaged and successful community development scheme. The scheme must demonstrate how it influenced the community, how many people it engaged and what will be the legacy impact and lasting benefits.
The assessment of activities will focus on creativity, innovation, integration and other impacts that foster improved relations and include quantifiable benefits for a community group. Judges will consider and reward organisations for managing programmes and projects aimed at improving community services, products and quality of life.
In judging this award, the panel will be looking for quantified details of projects, outcomes, achievements and the effectiveness of what was delivered; evidence of the degree of innovation in scoping and developing the initiative as well as the use of awareness raising measures to promote the scheme and deliver the programme; and measurement of the overall impact of the project.
Best Community Development (Legacy)
This award is open to any community development project, including national & local Government, public sector & charities and to businesses that have developed a project in their community that has been operating for at least 5 years, whether it be working with other organisations or independently.
The award will be given to the most innovative, engaged and successful community development scheme which must demonstrate how it influenced the community, how many people it impacted as well as the continuing benefits.
The measurement of relevant activities includes innovation, integration and other impacts that foster improved relations and include measureable benefits for a community group. Judges will consider and reward organisations for managing programmes and projects aimed at improving community services, products and quality of life.

This award is open to any organisation that has built and maintained a partnership with a not-for-profit entity in their community in the UK between 2013 and 2015.
The award will be given to the most innovative, engaged and successful community development partnership scheme which has quantifiably demonstrated how it worked successfully to influence the community, the number of individuals it impacted and if it continues to deliver long-term impacts.
The measurement of relevant activities includes innovation, integration and other impacts that foster improved relations between an organisation and a community group and include measureable benefits for the community group. Judges will consider and reward organisations for managing programmes and projects aimed at improving community services, products and quality of life.

Extra weight will be awarded to programmes related to their core business or to their industry sector.
The award will be given to the most innovative, engaged and successful international community development scheme which must demonstrate how it influenced the community, how many people it impacted as well as the continuing benefits.
The measurement of relevant activities includes innovation, integration and other impacts that foster improved relations and include measureable benefits for a community group. Judges will consider and reward organisations for managing programmes and projects aimed at improving international relations, community services, products and quality of life.
The Judges will specifically be looking for quantified details of projects, outcomes, achievements and the effectiveness of programme; evidence of the degree of innovation in scoping and developing the initiative and the overall impact on the project; the use of awareness raising to promote the scheme and details of any third party involvement in delivering the programme.
Best International Conservation Project
This award is open to any organisation that has developed and maintained an innovative, on-going international conservation project outside the UK between 2012 and 2015.
The award will be given to the most effective and successful international conservation scheme which demonstrates how the environment is protected as a result of the project. Judges will look for verifiable data on how the project will protect the environment, species that inhabit it and communities affected by the outcomes.
The measurement of relevant activities includes innovation, integration and other impacts that foster improved relations and include measureable benefits for the conservation area. Judges will consider and recognise organisations for managing programmes and projects aimed at improving the natural environment and quality of life of a region or community.
The Judges will specifically be looking for quantified details of projects, outcomes, achievements and the effectiveness of the programme; evidence of the degree of innovation in scoping and developing the initiative and the overall impact on the project; the use of awareness raising to promote the scheme and details of any third party involvement in delivering the programme.
Best Education Project (3 separate awards for STEM, Apprenticeships and Equality)
This award is open to social responsibility programmes that are developed with the aim of expanding learning, enhancing access to information and providing unique academic experiences. The judges will look specifically at creative and innovative programmes linked to apprenticeships, equality and STEM education delivered between 2013-2015. Projects that have a learning theme, engage local schools or other education/training establishments or initiatives are eligible to enter this category.
The scope of relevant activities includes the use of innovation, the effectiveness of materials used in delivery, the engagement level of students, inclusion of a measurement mechanism as well as the time and resource committed to the project.
The Judges will specifically be looking for quantified results of learning; quality of materials; the degree of innovation in delivering the initiative; the level of engagement and use of awareness raising to promote the project; any future plans and activities the entrant has undertaken to seek to teach others and further educate using the same programme template.
The judges will be awarding 3 separate awards for apprenticeships, equality and STEM projects.
Innovation for Workplace Practices
If you are a business that demonstrates values and respects your employees by supporting and delivering well thought out and successful workplace schemes, then you are eligible for this award.
The award will focus on comprehensive programmes developed between to enhance employee well-being, promote employee activities which support needs, promote sustainability and encourage a healthy work life balance. Judges will review payroll giving, volunteer schemes, staff energy efficiency, sustainable transport and facilities management.
Our judges will be rewarding businesses that have implemented innovative workplace practices that care for and protect employees, enhance the work environment for staff at all levels and recognise employees as valued contributors to the organisation. They will also be taking into consideration innovative and engaging programmes to motivate staff in following their employer’s CSR values by the way of staff schemes and eco-friendly work schemes.
In judging this award the panel will specifically be looking for evidence of: project verification mechanisms, quantifying the results of the initiative; the degree of innovation shown by the entrant in developing, delivering and engaging employees in the programme(s); how the organisation raised awareness to promote the offerings; and the extent to which the entry is part of an integrated scheme to improve employee relations. There is no specific time frame for this award, however judges will be looking for evidence of significant development for legacy initiatives.
100% Green - Carbon Neutral
This award is open to innovative programmes that ‘set new standards in low and zero carbon business practices’ and extra weight will be given to those demonstrating true sustainable innovation not simply in offsetting their carbon emissions, but ensuring they eliminate them to the greatest extent possible.
The award will recognise organisations with Scope 1, 2 &3 (GHG Protocol) carbon foot-printing and where necessary offsetting schemes that have been developed; recognising innovative, tangible and verifiable projects that push the boundaries in an effort to reduce their foot-print and enhance sustainability. Initiatives will be rewarded for addressing carbon, water and ecological foot-printing as well as truly unique approaches to reducing carbon emissions.
The Judges will specifically be looking for evidence of: verifiable carbon assessment with emissions reductions achieved through a variety of approaches to reducing overall carbon footprint; the degree of innovation in delivering the initiatives, pushing the envelope to achieve industry best practice; the use of awareness raising to promote carbon reduction efforts amongst staff; integrating employee behaviours and transformative thinking to the wider stakeholder community; and the extent to which the entry is one of a number of activities by the organisation to reduce its environmental impacts.
There is no specific timeframe for this award, however judges will be looking for evidence of significant development for legacy initiatives.
Clean Energy Project
This award is open to innovative programmes that set new standards in low and zero carbon energy innovation and integration.
The award will recognise innovative, tangible and verifiable projects that push the boundaries in an effort to improve energy generation, storage, transmission and reduce carbon emissions. Initiatives will be rewarded for addressing the challenges of providing affordable, accessible and market ready innovations.
The Judges will specifically be looking for evidence of verifiable emissions impact achieved through energy technology and the degree of innovation to surpass industry norms. Projects will have been completed to become operational between 2013-2015.
Community Energy Project
This award is open to innovative, tangible and verifiable projects that push the boundaries in an effort to reduce carbon emissions, improve access/ affordability, address fuel poverty and enhance sustainability.
The award will recognise a community energy project that provides zero carbon energy solutions at a decentralised level, and which engages local stakeholders, customers and Local Authorities.
The Judges will specifically be looking for evidence of the degree of innovation in delivering the initiatives, to achieve industry best practice; and the use of awareness raising to promote carbon reduction efforts amongst the local community, integrating behaviours and transformative thinking to the wider stakeholder community. Projects will have been completed to become operational between 2013-2015.
Built Environment (multiple awards for domestic and commercial)
This award is open to low or zero carbon building or built projects in the UK which highlight innovative capabilities and achievements across the entire project, including design, fabrication, construction and operation of building and infrastructure.
The winning project will successfully challenge or improve current building practices and standards as well as incorporating low carbon technological innovation. Judges will look for a holistic approach to sustainability and low carbon innovations which demonstrate a long-term impact on reducing carbon emissions and utilising low carbon energy resources in development and during occupation. The project will demonstrate ethical supply chain practices, working with partners to ensure the most sustainable approach to buildings are undertaken.
The judges will look for examples of how sustainability is incorporated into every aspect of the planning, design, sourcing, build and occupation of the building. Key areas to examine include how waste is eliminated or neutralised, reduction of materials and energy consumed, reuse and recycling.
The project will have been completed between 2013-2015 and the judges will consider multiple awards for domestic and commercial builds.
Green Supply Chain
This award is open to organisations who are working closely with partners and collaborators to “green” the supply chain – to improve processes and deliver an environmentally improved product or service. Key elements will include utilisation of local resources, consideration of project miles, beyond purchase of re-cycled products and consideration of the complete process of production.
The award will be given to a project or organisation where the principles of sustainability have been fully embedded in the supply chain, particularly those that demonstrate creative thinking and leadership. The winning entry will be an exemplar of sustainability, providing evidence that effective management of the supply chain, environment and economic aspects have achieved a significant improvement in the end product.
The Judges will be looking for demonstrably effective forms of partnership and collaboration, information sharing, innovative processes and the delivery of benefits in terms of process improvements in time, cost and operation. The judges will look for entrants who demonstrate a responsible, long term and collaborative approach to adding value and achieving a range of benefits for themselves and others.

Nutritional & Health Awareness Initiative
This award is open to retailers, chefs, nutritionists, food production organisations and campaigners whose work has had a significant impact on local and/ or national delivery, policy, implementation or public nutrition with emphasis on awareness raising about healthy foods, obesity and education.
Projects will be recognised for leadership that demonstrates development, planning and, implementation of public nutrition. Projects must show demonstrative improvements on public health, collaborative working and influencing across a range of stakeholders.
The Judges will be looking for innovative methods for engagement with end users as well as challenging fundamental misconceptions about nutrition and how it relates to health and well-being.
Projects will have been active between 2013-2015.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Achievement
This award is open to all initiatives taking an ‘circular economy’ approach to site and project specific resources during 2014-2015, focusing on waste reduction and recycling.
The winning entry will consider all aspects of waste reduction, reuse of materials and recycling, and will include supply chain integration and collaborative working.
The Judges will be looking at how challenges are addressed, how the supply chain (including local councils) is involved and how emerging technologies are utilised. Emphasis on waste reduction technologies, process innovation and material reductions incorporated are key. Entrants will demonstrate how they defined the challenge, identified solutions and engaged key stakeholders.
Outstanding Individual Corporate Leadership
This award is open to corporations wishing to enter an individual who have shown outstanding corporate leadership in promoting socially responsible and ethical practices within their chosen field.
Key achievements will include one or more major initiatives in social responsibility in which the entrant has played a significant leadership role. The judges will assess the extent and range of achievements; the degree of creativity and innovation that has been shown in taking forward CSR initiatives; the extent to which the entrant has shown leadership within their sector and has influenced colleagues and third parties and the personal commitment demonstrated by the entrant to be a voice for positive business practices and sustainable business.
The judges will specifically be looking for leadership across the breadth of CSR disciplines. Judges’ consideration will be given to champions of employee well-being, environmentalists, charity activists, savvy business leaders, technological masterminds and all-rounders.
There is no specific time scale for this award, however, the individual must still be in the existing role they are being nominated for.
Outstanding Individual Community Hero (Nomination Award - FREE)
This is our ‘unsung hero award’ acknowledging the work of an individual who doesn’t typically receive recognition for their contributions. Candidates will demonstrate a long-term commitment to their community and/or to securing a more sustainable way of life. This is a nomination award and will be free to enter.
The Judges will specifically be looking for leadership across community CSR disciplines. A champion of community engagement, an environmentalist, a charity activist, a savvy SME leader or a technological mastermind! There are no specific criteria or time scale for this award… just tell us their story!
Global Sustainable Transport
This award is open to any global organisation that has developed and delivered an innovative sustainable project for the transport of people, of freight, or for social travel with a global impact on reducing carbon. This is an ideal category for airports, cruise lines, shipping and rail.
The award will be given to the most effective and successful scheme which demonstrates how carbon emissions were reduced, traffic levels affected, the movement of people and/or goods improved, and technological innovation integrated as a result of the project. Judges will look for verifiable data on how the project will improve international transport. The award recognises on-going global transport projects between 2013 and 2015.
The measurement of relevant activities includes innovation, integration and other impacts that foster improved relations, and includes verifiable reduction of fuel consumption, and improvement of air quality. Judges will consider and recognise organisations for managing programmes and projects aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of transport and improving quality of life and best practice.
The Judges will specifically be looking for quantified details of projects, outcomes, achievements and effectiveness of programme; evidence of the degree of innovation in scoping and developing the initiative and the overall impact on the project; the use of awareness raising to promote the scheme; and details of any third party involvement in delivering the programme.

Eligible organisations can include Small private businesses, charities, 3rd Sector, NGOs, Public Sector, Local and Regional Government, Educational and Not-for-profit with 50 staff or less.
Best SME for Charity Support (under 50 staff)
This award is open to any SME charity project developed between 2012-2015 and operating with any charity in the United Kingdom.
The award supports and rewards the smaller and micro businesses that give a lot back but may not necessarily have the resources to monitor and report on the impact of their contribution. It will be presented to the most innovative, engaged and successful SME scheme.
The Judges will be looking for evidence of how the project influenced the community, how it engaged with the charity and what benefits were felt as a result of the project.
Community Energy Project
This award is open to innovative, tangible and verifiable projects that push the boundaries in an effort to reduce carbon emissions, improve access/ affordability, address fuel poverty and enhance sustainability.
The award will recognise a community energy project that provides zero carbon energy solutions at a decentralised level, and which engages local stakeholders, customers and Local Authorities.
The Judges will specifically be looking for evidence of the degree of innovation in delivering the initiatives, to achieve industry best practice; and the use of awareness raising to promote carbon reduction efforts amongst the local community, integrating behaviours and transformative thinking to the wider stakeholder community. The judges will look for examples of how sustainability is incorporated into every aspect of the planning, design, sourcing, build and occupation of the building. Key areas to examine include how waste is eliminated or neutralised, reduction of materials and energy consumed, reuse and recycling.
The project will have been completed between 2013-2015 and the judges will consider multiple awards for domestic and commercial builds.
Green Supply Chain
This award is open to organisations who are working closely with partners and collaborators to “green” the supply chain – to improve processes and deliver an environmentally improved product or service. Key elements will include utilisation of local resources, consideration of project miles, beyond purchase of re-cycled products and consideration of the complete process of production.
The award will be given to a project or organisation where the principles of sustainability have been fully embedded in the supply chain, particularly those that demonstrate creative thinking and leadership. The winning entry will be an exemplar of sustainability, providing evidence that effective management of the supply chain, environment and economic aspects have achieved a significant improvement in the end product.
The Judges will be looking for demonstrably effective forms of partnership and collaboration, information sharing, innovative processes and the delivery of benefits in terms of process improvements in time, cost and operation. The judges will look for entrants who demonstrate a responsible, long term and collaborative approach to adding value and achieving a range of benefits for themselves and others.

Outstanding Individual Community Hero (Nomination Award - FREE)
This is our ‘unsung hero award’ acknowledging the work of an individual who doesn’t typically receive recognition for their contributions. Candidates will demonstrate a long-term commitment to their community and/or to securing a more sustainable way of life. This is a nomination award and will be free to enter.
The Judges will specifically be looking for leadership across community CSR disciplines. A champion of community engagement, an environmentalist, a charity activist, a savvy SME leader or a technological mastermind! There are no specific criteria or time scale for this award… just tell us their story!
