Category Description
This ‘free to enter’ award is aimed at both small companies and social enterprises that have sought to instigate a sustainable, environmental, sports or community project for the benefit of their local area without any external funding.
In judging this award, the panel will specifically be looking for quantified details of projects, outcomes, achievements and the effectiveness of what was delivered; evidence of the degree of innovation in scoping and developing the initiative and the overall impact of the project; and the use of awareness raising to promote the scheme.
The judging panel will also be looking for identification of the need and value of the project to the community and the proven benefit of the project to the community it serves.
There is no specific time scale for this award, however, the initiative must still be in existence and significant development must has been achieved within the 2014-16.
Criteria
Judges will be specifically looking for evidence of the following points within the supplied application form (weighting percentages in brackets):
- How you developed an understanding of the local issues that your project addresses, ensuring that the project was aligned with the needs of the local community and your ability to help; (15%)
- What help from the local community was used to design the way in which the project would be delivered and have an impact, and how you created a sense of partnership; (30%)
- How the planning and organising of the project was conducted so that it was achievable with the resources you had available and how you decided what targets or objectives to set and what timescale to allocate; (15%)
- How you built enthusiasm and support for the project within your organisation and within the community; (20%)
- How you knew that you had been successful and had an impact on the issue you set out to address. (20%)
