The Global Good Disruption:Delivered webinars will be a break from the norm; a series of hard-hitting, trending topics that will challenge our thinking and get everyone a little uncomfortable in their seats! We want to drive change and address tough questions to help you deliver impact FASTER, so they will be disruptive! Would you expect any less from us?
Sessions will be moderated and speakers well briefed to deliver implementable actions; sending you away with real takeaways. There’ll be no greenwashing, no back-slapping and no heavy sales pitches. Our key objective is to offer an ‘introductory group consultancy session’ on a series of #GlobalGood topics, with listeners leaving the sessions, ready for action. What’s more, if you join in, you’ll get to vote on what topics you want covered next!
Whatever session(s) you take part in, do come prepared with your own tips too! We’re all for the sharing of best practice and our sessions will have open Q&A and Chat options, all collated and distributed after the session.
“If companies don’t align themselves to purpose-driven sustainability within five years, they won’t be around in ten.”
(Tony Juniper, speaking in March 2015, Global Good Awards)
We’ll be kicking off the series with our first two trending topics to coincide with our 2020 Virtual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 2nd September:
Session 1 (11:30am – 12:30pm) – ‘The Environmental Impact of Digital’
Did you know that our digital lifestyles are responsible for more emissions globally than the entire aviation industry’s fuel? And that was BEFORE lockdown! There are direct impacts from the energy used in every internet search, email sent and video streamed, as well as the indirect impacts to manufacturer the equipment you’re using. We may have seen a 95% reduction in aviation emissions over the last few months, but it’s been coupled with an exponential increase in teleconferencing and streaming.
In this session we’ll hear more about impacts of this silent emitter, and will discuss ‘quick wins’ to help you reduce your Scope 1 digital impact at home and in your business; also touching on some Scope 2 and 3 reductions too.
Caroline MacDonald, Founder of OggaDoon Ltd
Dr James Robey – Global Head of Corporate Sustainability at Capgemini
Ben Clifford – MD, Erjjio Studios – Planet-friendly web design & hosting
Anna Hughes – Campaigner, Adventurer & founder of Flight Free UK
Session 2 (13:30pm – 14:30pm) – ‘Social Justice is everyone’s business’
Racism has built every level of our society in ways that might surprise you. Systems have been set up across the world to give people of lighter skin colour more wealth, employment, education, housing, healthcare, and criminal justice. The world of business has been built on these systems, so dismantling and rebuilding them must be high on every company’s agenda. Not being racist is no longer an option; we must all be actively anti-racist.
We can only solve other global problems like pandemics and the climate crisis if we all have social justice; this is why the SDG’s are interconnected. In this session, we will not tiptoe around uncomfortable subjects. We’ll talk about issues like unconscious bias, privilege, white fragility, intersectionality, and systemic racism. And we’ll discuss the actions every business can take to be anti-racist.
