The National CSR Awards are being judged by a distinguished judging panel made up of six pre-judges (who will decide upon the shortlisted candidates) and high profile judges. Click here to see our judging line-up.
Six categories are designed for businesses to enter; the seventh (Outstanding Individual Leadership) is a Nominee category for others to recognise someone else’s achievements in their community or in their field of expertise. This nominee will have made a significant difference to others over an extended period of time.
Categories are split into SME, third/public sector and large organisations; giving everyone the opportunity to be recognised for their achievements. All sectors are priced differently for entries and the Outstanding Individual Leadership Nominee is free. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the Award Ceremony Luncheon for FREE; and they will be in the company of 150 guests including The Mayor of Elmbridge, Rt. Hon. Philip Hammond MP and our judges.
The shortlisted and winning organisations will be promoted to a national audience, and our PR, marketing, communications will reflect this. Every element of the awards programme has been designed to provide entrants with national recognition for their CSR efforts.
The Awards will attract and promote companies that deliver the highest level of CSR initiatives in business within the UK and we are seeking sponsor organisations with equally focused CSR policies. Sponsorship opportunities available include Headline sponsor, Award Category sponsors and opportunities at the Awards ceremony itself.

If your company has developed an effective and comprehensive CSR programme that is credible, results driven and reinforces your commitment to operating in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible manner, your organisations is eligible to enter this award.
The Award is for the organisation which has done the most to develop its social responsibility programme, and they will be judged primarily on activities undertaken in 2013/14 although projects started before and those ongoing will be taken into account. The scope of relevant activities includes:- use of innovation, promotion of employee well-being, reducing carbon footprinting, improving the sustainability of processes in the workplace, community engagement and protection of physical environment.
The honour will be presented to the company delivering a broad range of effective activities and initiatives creating a high impact CSR presence. This can include future planned activities to change processes, benchmark successes, engage employees, address supply chain (and whole-life impact of products) and urge their clients and other third parties to incorporate CSR in their processes, services and resources.
Our judges will be looking for good governance, management, a continuing commitment to sustainability, as well as projects that incorporate some, or all of the following areas:
· Employee relations
· Environmental practices demonstrating commitment to sustainability
· Health and safety
· Community development
· Protection of the public
· Marketplace practices
· Supply chain practices

Environmental leadership is an increasingly important element of a successful CSR programme. Leading the sector by developing initiatives that help save energy, improve water and resources efficiency, reduce waste – incorporating innovative recycling schemes – as well reducing their carbon footprint and protecting the natural environment are all relevant to this category.
This award is for recognition of an organisation that has consistently delivered effective environmental programmes, inspired others to action, created best practice schemes, provided leadership for stakeholders, integrated sustainability across business disciplines and campaigned to promote positive effects of good business citizenship.
The award will be judged based upon the overall achievements of the organisation over a sustained period.
In judging this award the panel will specifically be looking for evidence of:
1. The effectiveness of achievements in which the entrant has led the process or initiative.
2. The degree of innovation that has been shown in taking forward initiatives.
3. The extent to which the entrant has demonstrated leadership within their sector and has influenced third parties
4. The organisational commitment demonstrated by the entrant to promote a sustainable society internally and externally.

This award is open to any community development project, including national & local Government, public sector & charities and to businesses that have developed a project in their community whether it be working with a third sector organisation or independently.
The award will be given to the most innovative, engaged and successful community development scheme which must demonstrate how it influenced the community, how many people it helped and if it will deliver lasting benefits.
The award recognises outstanding community development schemes in the United Kingdom between 2012-14.
The scope of relevant activities includes innovative, integration or any other activity that encourages an improved relationship between organisations and communities. Judges will all take into consideration and reward organisations for managing a range of programmes and projects aimed at improving community services, products and quality of life.
In judging this award, the panel will specifically be looking for evidence of:
1. Quantified details of projects, outcomes, achievements and effectiveness of what was delivered.
2. The degree of innovation in scoping and developing the initiative and the overall impact on the project.
3. The use of awareness raising to promote the scheme and details about any third parties involved in delivering the programme.

The Best Education Project Award honours CSR programmes that have been developed and promoted across the UK to enhance learning and knowledge for all ages. Projects that have a learning theme, engage local schools or other education/training establishments or initiatives are eligible to enter this category.
The scope of relevant activities includes:- use of innovative, the effectiveness of the materials used in delivery, engagement level of students, inclusion of a feedback and measurement mechanism and the time and resource committed to the project.
In judging this award, the panel will specifically be looking for evidence of:
1. Quantified results of learning and quality of materials
2. The degree of innovation in delivering the initiative
3. The level of engagement and use of awareness raising to promote the project
4. Any future plans and activities the entrant has undertaken to seek to teach others and further educate using the same programme template.

In judging this award the panel will specifically be looking for evidence of:
1. Project verification mechanisms, quantifying the results of the initiative.
2. The degree of innovation shown by the entrant in developing, delivering and engaging employees in the programme(s)
3. How the organisation raised awareness to promote the offerings
4. The extent to which the entry is part of an integrated scheme to improve employee relations

The judges will be looking for the best Scope 1, 2 &3 (GHG Protocol) carbon footprinting and offsetting schemes that have been developed; recognising innovative, tangible and verifiable projects that push the boundaries in an effort to reduce their footprint and enhance sustainability. Initiatives will be rewarded for addressing carbon, water and ecological foot printing as well as truly unique approaches to offsetting.
In judging this award the panel will specifically be looking for evidence of:
1. Verifiable carbon assessment with emissions reductions achieved through a variety of approaches to effecting overall carbon footprint
2. The degree of innovation in delivering the initiatives, pushing the envelope to achieve industry best practice
3. The use of awareness raising to promote carbon reduction efforts amongst staff, integrating employee behaviours and transformative thinking to the wider stakeholder community
4. The extent to which the entry is one of a number of activities by the organisation to reduce its environmental impacts.

This award recognises an individual, or individuals that have shown outstanding leadership in promoting socially responsible practices within their field. This is our ‘unsung hero award’ acknowledging the work of someone who doesn’t enjoy everyday recognition for their contributions. The outstanding leader candidates will demonstrate a long-term commitment to their community and/or securing a more sustainable future. This is a nomination award and will be free to enter.
In judging this award the panel will specifically be looking for leadership across the many CSR disciplines. A champion of employee well-being, an environmentalist, a charity activist, a savvy business leader or a technological mastermind! The winner will have committed a little of everything or a lot of just one of the following:
1. The effectiveness of one or more major achievements in which the entrant has played a significant leadership role. The extent and range of achievements
2. The degree of innovation that has been shown in taking forward social responsibility initiatives
3. The extent to which the entrant has shown leadership within their sector and has influenced colleagues and third parties
4. The personal commitment demonstrated by the entrant to be a voice for positive business practices and sustainable living.
