Category Description

This award is open to all initiatives taking a ‘circular economy’ approach to site and project specific resources during 2015-2016, focusing on waste reduction and recycling.

The winning entry will consider all aspects of waste reduction, reuse of materials and recycling, and will include supply chain integration and collaborative working.

The Judges will be looking at how challenges are addressed, how the supply chain (including local councils) is involved and how emerging technologies are utilised. Emphasis on waste reduction technologies, process innovation and material reductions incorporated are key. Entrants will demonstrate how they defined the challenge, identified solutions and engaged key stakeholders.

Criteria

Judges will be looking for evidence of the following points within the supplied application form (weighting percentages in brackets):

  1. The organisation’s commitment to maximising resource efficiency, showing true innovation for creative solutions, and the demonstration of waste reduction or elimination; (25%)
  2. Evidence of the organisation consistently working towards a ‘zero waste’ policy across projects and the demonstration of a holistic approach engaging with partners, employees and the supply chain. (30%)
  3. The scheme’s verifiable assessments across the project in terms of achieving carbon and waste reduction, integrating sustainable practices, maximising resources, educating workforce and engaging supply chain and partners; (30%)
  4. An overarching strategy to improve core business practices, sustainability and corporate responsibility with support by senior management. (15%)
