In May 2016, West Ham United’s Foundation set out to deliver life changing results for the community they work in the heart of – Newham. As one of the poorest boroughs in London, and with the second highest prevalence of type 2 diabetes in England, the borough faces unique challenges. But, by working in a ground-breaking partnership with the NHS and Newham Council, West Ham United are using the power of football and sport over a 24-week programme to inspire local residents who would otherwise be uncomfortable discussing their health and making changes to their lifestyle.
