Founder and CEO of the Global Good Awards has a well known environmental pet hate: drinking straws. “It really is one of my personal bugbears,” she admits. “I confront the issue every time anyone presents me with one. It’s almost become a personal mission!”
And with statistics that show that Americans use enough straws daily to wrap around the earth’s circumference 2.5 times, Karen has been delighted to hear about Herald Plastic which has introduced edible straws to the UK.
Aimed at the cocktail market, the straws have been designed to be environmentally-friendly and sustainable as an alternative to plastic. There are three flavours to choose from– lemon, lime and strawberry – and they can be purchased by the box.
