Formula E Chief Executive named as keynote speaker for National CSR Awards
Alejandro Agag, who defied critics by taking the Formula E (the world’s first fully electric) car from a PowerPoint concept to a global championship in just 12 months, is the first named speaker in what the organisers say will be an impressive line-up for the inaugural National CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Awards due to take place on 6th March.
Alejandro’s appearance will come just months before Formula E comes to London, for a ‘double-header’ of two separate races on 27th and 28th June. Alejandro said, “We’re delighted to be hosting two races in London – the final races of the season. The track is located in the spectacular Battersea Park. London could well be where the inaugural Formula E champion is crowned, making it a fantastic spectacle for the city and a great place to showcase sustainable mobility and clean energy. We hope Formula E will change attitudes towards electric cars. Fans can expect a lot of fast action.”
The National CSR Awards will also feature a Showcase Exhibition and an opportunity for guests to test-drive a fleet of the latest low-carbon and electric vehicles, which will be available outside Clubhouse of the historic Brooklands Museum, a two-minute walk from the Exhibition venue.
Confirmed vehicles include: Tesla, BMW i3, Nissan Leaf, Audi A3 E-Tron, Toyota Aurius and Smart. In addition to this, there will be a static display of performance cars including the Mercedes-Benz SLS Electric Drive, the Mercedes-Benz S500 Hybrid Plugin and the BMW i8.
The Museum has just released news of its successful bid for Heritage Lottery Funding of £4.7M for its ambitious Brooklands Aircraft Factory & Race Track Revival Project. This will transform the Museum’s Grade II listed Second World War Wellington Hangar into The Brooklands Aircraft Factory, and a new annex will be built, the Flight Shed, which will house more of the Museum’s outstanding collection of historic aircraft. The funding will also restore the Finishing Straight of the Brooklands Race Track, the world’s first purpose-built motor-racing circuit.
Nine award category winners, which were decided upon earlier this month in London by an impressive judging line up, will receive their accolades at the Award Ceremony Luncheon where Alejandro will be speaking.
