Five leading philanthropists, environmentalists and sustainability experts will convene on Wednesday 11th February, at Climate Change Capital in London, to judge this year’s inaugural National CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Awards.
The judges are: Camila Batmanghelidjh CBE, Founder of Kids Company; Tony Juniper, Environmentalist and Writer; James Cameron, Chairman of Climate Change Capital; Bruce Poon Tip, Philanthropist & Social Enterprise Innovator, and Founder of G Adventures and Liz Jones, Editor of Ethical Performance.
Bruce Poon-Tip, whose book, LOOPTAIL, forwarded by the Dalai Lama, said “Being a responsible business is at the heart of what we do at G Adventures and I’m excited to be a part of a judging panel that rewards companies who are doing the same. It’s fantastic to see CSR being put in the spotlight. I’m confident these awards will encourage more organisations to give back to the community and environment by introducing sustainable initiatives”
Nine category winners will be decided upon and the shortlist includes a wide range of organisations including E.ON, Telefonica (O2), Port of Dover, Zero Emissions Network and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
The shortlist was confirmed on Friday 6th February and announced live on Twitter. Karen Sutton, Founder of the National CSR Awards said “The Awards and Showcase were developed to address the need for recognition across the many facets of social responsibility, to provide a platform for sharing ideas and best practice. The response has been overwhelming, confirming our belief that there is a national interest in promoting the benefits of responsible business.”
The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Weybridge, Surrey on 6th March. An exhibition will be running throughout the day at the venue, Mercedes-Benz World, giving guests access to a series of interactive and unique initiatives focused on Corporate Social Responsibility.
