Recycling gets a wiggle on!
Design driven activewear brand Sweaty Betty has teamed up with SOEX, the global textile recycler, to give old leggings a new lease of life.
SOEX accepts all brands of clothing, in any clean, dry condition – from wearable to worn out. Customers can place items in the collection bins in all 48 Sweaty Betty stores in the UK. They will then be rehomed or recyled with SOEX to help reduce waste and build a more sustainable future.
SOEX have been in the business for more than 40 years and every year, 11,000 tons of used textiles are mechanically shredded in 24/7 operation to create choice secondary raw materials. These materials are then reprocessed into new products in various industries.
The SOEX recycling facility in Germany grinds down donated used clothes, such as leggings, so that they turn into dust. This is then pressed into briquettes to be used in the cardboard industry.
Sweaty Betty will reward those taking part in the scheme with a £10 off voucher (on a spend over £50).
The Global Good Awards 2020 closes on 28th February. (6th March extended deadline)
