The 2022 Judges: In Safe Hands
Judging for the 2022 Global Good Awards is now complete.
Coutts kindly hosted our Judging Day on the 7th where we were thankful to be back together in person once again. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch that was homegrown in the bank’s roof garden above The Strand. Afterwards, we went to BMA House, our awards venue, to sample the event’s vegan menu which included fresh, surplus produce from Waste Knot and sustainable wines from Ellis Wines.
What makes our standout awards programme so special is our esteemed panel of independent experts who take precious time out to judge our ever-growing number of entries.
We have had 39 judges join the Global Good community in 2022 to consider entries for 17 categories, representing a broad spectrum of businesses from large corporations and SMEs to charities and social enterprises. With their vast experience the judges deliberate over categories for which they have specific expertise. A new minimum threshold of scores was introduced for judging this year so three judges per award ensure a fair, robust and transparent process.
This year, we have welcomed back our longest serving judge, Paula Owen, founder of ecoactiongames. Paula has been with us since the start in 2015 and is an integral member of the awards programme, and our other longest serving judges: Kathryn Baddeley, head of CSR at Cisco UK & Ireland, Dave Hampton, ‘The Carbon Coach’, Will Akerman, founder & MD of Connectr, formerly MyKindaFuture, Seema Sharma, Entrepreneur & Founder of Child Action. In fact, 75% of the Judging Panel have served for 4 or more years.
We are also grateful to their fellow ‘returners’ Joe Baguley, Dr Shima Barakat, Rick Benfield, Hilary Berg, Michael Blake, Yogesh Chauhan, Phil Clarke, Danny Doogan, Louise Ellison, Louise Erskine, Peter Hughes, Mark Jankovich, Harriet Kelsall, Estelle Levin-Nally, Naily Makangu, Adam Pensotti, John Sage, Georgina Stevens, Joey Tabone, Caroline Ward, Georgina Wilson-Powell and Martin Wright for joining us once again.
New to our judging panel for 2022 are:
David Picton, Senior VP of ESG at Alcumus
Alison Robb, Sustainability Director at Coutts
Scott Armstrong, COO at Planet Mark
Louisa Harris, Head of Sustainability & System Change at Brandpie
Vijay Bedarkar, ESG Manager at Trust Payments

Pamela Stathaki, Global Head of Sustainability at The Marketing Store
James Sutton, Director of Strategic Partnerships formerly at Raleigh International

“The Global Good Awards is by far the best awards experience I’ve had. Loved the feedback from judges (quite a rarity) and you personally {Karen} live and breathe sustainability. It was also the most diverse Judging Panel I’d ever seen.”
Luke Wellock, Corporate Responsibility Manager, Leeds Building Society
