2018 Awards venue wins Gold for Green Tourism…

16th May 2018: add it to your calendar
We’re proud to announce that the 2018 Global Good Awards will be held on Wednesday 16th May at BMA House, Tavistock Square.
Home to the British Medical Association since 1925, historic BMA House was awarded Gold in Green Tourism in September 2017, a challenge for a Listed building and the highest level of sustainability possible for a business. They have both a strong, inspirational environmental ethos and use the latest technologies to ensure efficient control of resources.
Sarah Franczak, Head of Events at BMA House, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to have achieved a Gold Rating in the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Here at BMA House, green is at the heart of everything we do. We make a consistent effort to make our events as healthy and sustainable as possible.
There are lots of small things that we can do to make a big difference, for example having your morning coffee in a keep cup not a takeaway cup, using responsibly sourced food and reusing or upcycling collateral after an event. Sustainability and safeguarding the environment will continue to be a strong focus for us in 2018 and beyond.”
Stuart Park, Lead Assessor at Green Tourism said:
“BMA House is a very deserving recipient of the Green Tourism Gold award. A huge part of the award is down to the effort of the Green Team, helping to raise awareness while reducing energy, water and waste from a challenging, older building.”
The food at this year’s awards will also be vegetarian and vegan. Award winning caterers are based on site and where possible menus are created using local ingredients and working with RSPCA freedom food accredited suppliers. Fair trade growers are also supported for tea and coffee.
