Announcing our first charity of the year: Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

We’re delighted to announce that The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity will be the first Global Good Awards ‘Charity of the Year’. GGA will be donating £10 for every entry received and £5 for every ticket sold for the award ceremony at BMA House**(see foot note). Together, we could potentially raise £2,500 for the charity, without changing a thing about the way we run the GGA.
The world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education, The Royal Marsden sees over 50,000 patients a year.
Your donations will ensure their nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. They provide care during diagnosis, treatment and beyond, and have specialist paediatric facilities for children and young people.
GGA founder and CEO, Karen Sutton knows just how valuable their work is:
“I chose The Royal Marsden because of the incredible, lifesaving work that they do, and because their care has recently become personally significant. I am so happy that the GGA can make a difference in supporting such a deserving charity.”
Karen also plans to take part in an ‘adrenaline-packed’ fundraiser in the summer next year… watch this space!
Donations will be made via the Work for Good platform, our latest partner and a social enterprise on a mission to unleash the giving power of the business world, by making giving easy for business.
CEO and co-founder Danny Witter explains:
“The Global Good Awards celebrate best practice in corporate responsibility. Of all the ways that companies give back, giving in cash is still small, constituting a meagre 2% of UK charity income. Work for Good’s mission is to change this, so we are very excited to be in partnership with the GGA, to promote how easy and compelling it can be to embed cash giving into what a business does day to day.”

** Foot note: As the Royal Marsden is our chosen charity, we would encourage all entrants to opt to donate the £10 from their fee to Royal Marsden (which will happen by default). However, any organisation with policy obligations on the type of charity supported will be able to access the Work for Good platform using a 2-click process, and allocate their fee to a charity that is aligned to their approach.
Entries for the GGA open on the 1st December 2017 and close 2nd February 2018. You can find out more here.
