DISRUPTION: DELIVERED

Webinars with purpose and actions

22nd September

11:00am – 12:00pm – ‘Measuring Social Value: new approaches and meaningful valuations’

Businesses have a duty, and an obligation, to create social value. It should be broader than their core benefits and the benefits created should respond to the needs of the location in which they operate.

But was does social value actually mean? And what is the latest thinking on how you deliver and measure it? In this session we will challenge the meaning of social value (it has a broader remit than its name suggests) and look at how the social value sector is being disrupted and revolutionised by new valuation approaches. We will explore how and if we can use digital to make this shift and offer reflections from businesses who have matured in their experience and approach to social value creation and the learning they have gained on their journey.

Moderator & Speaker:

15:00pm – 16:00pm – ‘Climate Action: Race to Net Zero’

Set your net zero target yet?

No? Then expect your shareholders, customers, stakeholders and more to start asking why.

Yes? Great! But is it robust enough to stand up to scrutiny? Is it ambitious enough to drive innovation?

It’s now a given that any business which takes its climate responsibilities seriously should have a strategy in place to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 at the absolute latest – and preferably before. But it can be a daunting challenge.

This webinar will offer some practical tips and guidance on how to go about devising and implementing such a strategy, and keeping it fit for purpose.

It will cover issues such as:

  • deciding target dates
  • setting interim goals
  • defining and measuring ‘your’ emissions – including the question of so-called ‘Scope 3’ emissions (covering supply chain, customer usage, etc)
  • carbon offsetting – it is acceptable, and if so, how much?
  • identifying business opportunities – and risks
  • and that perennial Net Zero question: can you set a target without knowing how you’ll achieve it?

Moderator: Martin Wright – Environmentalist & Journalist

Speakers:

Jonathan Withey – Head of Business Development, The Planet Mark

David Ireland – Director, World Habitat

Althea Solomon – Climate Change and Natural Capital Lead, Severn Trent Water
