About us
Initially designed by famed architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, BMA House retains much of its architectural charm with feature fireplaces, gold leaf detailing, high ceilings and tall windows, not to mention its impressive brick façade and grand wrought iron ‘Gates of Remembrance’.
There is a constant focus on investing into the upkeep, restoration and improvement of the venue, with a strong emphasis on all things green, healthy and sustainable.
Green events
Certain challenges will always arise from listed building status, but through a commitment to being green and a raft of innovative initiatives, the venue has managed to achieve and maintain a Gold Green Tourism Rating since 2017, the highest measure of sustainability, plus achieve Platinum status with Greengage’s ECOsmart accreditation. This commitment makes us one of London’s leading sustainability venues.
The introduction of modernised technology has assisted with this, making each meeting space as efficient as possible and including features such as extra recycling facilities, motion sensor lighting, as well as digital signage to reduce paper use, and name badge recycling.
The venue also has a dedicated ‘Green Team’ to encourage best practice throughout the venue and to highlight any areas of improvement or focus, on an ongoing basis.
Wellbeing events: A sustainable environment
In keeping with the principles of the British Medical Association, as well as those of the events team, BMA House invests considerable time and effort into the creation of healthier meetings and events. Committed to becoming carbon zero by 2030, we are already zero to landfill, offer complimentary estimated event carbon emission reports, calculate food miles, support community engagement, provide sustainable travel options including a Clean Air Walking Route & EV charging points.
Our event spaces
BMA House has a range of 22 spaces suitable for meetings, events, conferences and weddings, for up to 320 guests. A rare find in central London, BMA House has two outdoor spaces, the impressive Courtyard with its grand Gates of Remembrance, and the peaceful Garden, home to an interesting range of medicinal plants.
For each event, the client has contact with one dedicated member of the team who knows their event brief inside out. Customer service is everything at BMA House, and the passionate team excels at creating a seamless experience from start to finish, working with clients to turn each event plan into a success.
AV tech has been recently upgraded throughout the venue, and there is always a dedicated AV technician on hand to help during an event, as well as with set up.
Our ethical food standards
Catering at BMA House is provided by our catering partner, Company of Cooks who strive to encourage healthy events with guests’ wellbeing at the forefront of all menu planning. Expect exciting, low-carbon dishes, top notch service and the highest quality ingredients. Their ethical & sustainable food practices mean they support our hard-working British farmers & source local produce where possible, whilst ensuring food waste is at its absolute minimum.
We have eliminated beef and most red meat from menus. This has significantly reduced carbon emissions associated with catering services. Over 70% of our menus are now non-meat based. Additionally, we have implemented a policy of meat-free Mondays, all of which reduce our environmental impact and promote healthier eating.
Our location
BMA House is located on the edge of leafy Tavistock Square, just a 5-minute walk from Euston tube (served by Northern and Victoria line) and train station, and a 13-minute walk from King’s Cross St Pancras station. It is also well connected with a variety of other bus routes and tube stations, including Russell Square (Piccadilly line) and Euston Square (Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith and City lines), making it easy to access from anywhere within London, and beyond.
We have also worked with Cross River Partnership to create a ‘Clean Air Walking Route’ designed to offer our visitors a less polluted route from Kings Cross.
