pebble brings sustainability to Shoreditch
Following on from the success of the first ever pebblefest in April, sustainable lifestyle magazine and GGA partner pebble has teamed up with the vegan, organic Freedom Brewery to bring a series of three sustainable markets to Shoreditch’s premier street food event, Urban Food Fest.
Kicking off on Saturday 1 June, pebble has curated an ethical fashion market with some of London’s leading eco-fashionistas including Deakin & Blue and Zola Eve and will be running an ethical fashion ‘surgery’ to help Londoners dress more sustainably and running a fashion quiz to win Freedom beer.
The following two markets will take place on Saturday 7 July and Saturday 7 September, the latter will be themed around zero waste. Each one sits within pebble’s 2019 campaign for #EverydayActivism to celebrate and inspire small steps to help everyone live more lightly on the planet.
Georgina Wilson-Powell, founder of pebble and GGA judge, says: “After launching two and a half years ago and growing into an authority on many aspects of sustainable living, it’s fantastic to see pebble magazine partner with brands that share our passion in helping people to make small swaps that add up to big social shifts when we all adopt them. I’m really looking forward to bringing some of our favourite brands and our expertise to a new audience in Shoreditch.”
Laura Mitchell from Freedom Brewery adds: “We are proud to work with pebble as a business with shared values. Freedom Brewery took the decision in 2004 to move our brewery out of London to rural Staffordshire where we consciously built a purpose built brewery which would both guarantee the quality of our beer and reduce the impact we had on the environment around us.
“Using thermal fluid heating to significantly reduce energy consumption, taking water from a unique bore hole on site at the brewery and processing all waste water through a natural anaerobic willow & reed system on site means that we reduce the impact of our brewery on the environment around it. These decisions represent the very core of our brand values; independent – natural – sustainable – real beer – and a key part of our #everydayactivism to brew consistently high quality beer, responsibly.”
Find Freedom x pebblefest at the Urban Food Fest on Saturday 1 June from 11am-11pm.
