Cheers to brewing a better planet!
Global Good Award-winning craft ale company, Toast, has celebrated a major milestone: it’s now brewed up 1m slices of surplus bakery bread* into beer. And all in Real Bread Week and B Corp month too…
The three-year old business collaborates on exciting beers with craft breweries all over the UK and has released a special bread beer recipe for homebrewers. It highlights that by using bread, there is less demand for barley, which frees up land and fresh water resources and by preventing bread from being wasted, it reduces carbon emissions.
Every Toast ale purchased also supports various food charities and, so far, the company has been able to donate £25,000.
Like last year, Toast ales will be served at the Global Good Awards ceremony on 19 June at BMA House in London.
*Toast points out that if you stacked said amount of bread, the resulting tower would be 13km high!
