‘More Inclusive, Even More Sustainable’: What To Expect at The 2023 GGAs

This year sees the greatest changes to the Global Good Awards in the history of our awards programme! So, what’s in store?
New Winners’ Showcase
We are making big changes to the way the event is run. In order to become even more sustainable and increase the positive impact of participation, the GGA is doing away with the traditional awards ceremony event and replacing it with a free virtual ceremony for all entrants on 12th July, at which the winners will be announced, and people can learn about the other entrants and their work. This will then be followed by a jam-packed day of purpose-led content happening in person on 12th October, which will be open to all organisations as well as past and current entrants, with discounted tickets for entrants for 2023.
New Award
This year, we are replacing the Covid Crisis Champion category with the Ukraine Crisis Champions Award. This award recognises organisations that have gone the extra mile in supporting the people of Ukraine in this time of crisis for the country. This could include providing refuge for Ukrainians fleeing the conflict; humanitarian support, whether provided directly or indirectly, to Ukrainians inside or outside the country; and non-lethal material and resources support for Ukraine as it seeks to resist the challenge of Putin’s aggression.
New Judging & Judges
We are introducing a new layer of judging in 2023. Paula Owen, the Global Good Awards’ longest serving judge, and Martin Wright, a fellow judge and our awards ceremony host, will give extra attention to all entries that attain finalists’ threshold scores; by conducting online investigative research to determine who truly stands out from the crowd.
We also welcome some news judges to the panel in 2023: Celeste Leverton is Associate Director and Sustainability Manager at Coutts, Clare Matheson from Thames Valley Partnership and Christian McBride, Founder of Genuine Solutions, 2022’s gold Circular Economy Award winner. The final panel will be confirmed soon.
New Sponsors
- We are delighted to have Barley Communications joining us as a brand-new Platinum sponsor. As a two-time gold Campaign of the Year Award winner with their client Hubbub, Barley couldn’t be better placed to support our PR, bringing a strong understanding of the GGAs and our commitment to running them in a transparent and sustainable way.
- Illumina is our new Gold sponsor. Illumina is a global company, dedicated to advancing human health by unlocking the power of the genome by developing innovative array-based solutions for DNA, RNA, and protein analysis.
